Understanding yourself is an important step to becoming a better leader of others. In this module, you will learn to distinguish between your core and aspirational values. As you explore your unconscious bias and consider your leadership blind spots, you will learn how to become a more authentic leader by leveraging your emotional self-awareness. You will reflect on where you have come from, what you have learned along the way, and how to apply this as you define your ideal future state as a leader. Your enhanced self-awareness will provide the foundation for heartfully engaging in the succeeding modules.
Module 2: Express Your Vision - Oct 23 and 25 8:30am-12:00pm
Now that you are more comfortable with your authentic self, the focus turns to developing a personal vision and goals. As you become aware of patterns, you will apply self-perception to shift the balance of power from old internal thoughts to a new more self-aware and assured internal state of thinking. You will practice using self-perception to assertively express thoughts and feelings and consider how others view the situation. You will also learn how to communicate your feelings in constructive and socially acceptable ways while recognizing how to balance your independence to gain empowerment without alienating others. By the end of the module, you will have a personal vision and the skills to practice building your self-esteem, self-confidence and assertiveness techniques.

Learn how to build more meaningful relationships in a way that builds trust, loyalty and motivation. You will discover the impact your communication style has on others and whether you are achieving the results you intend. Apply a decision framework for next steps in your personal leadership journey. You will discover how your individual approach to risk influences your decision-making process. As part of the module, you will become familiar with decision analysis and problem-solving frameworks to gain skill and comfort in making strategic decisions. You will practice adopting alternative perspectives as a means of understanding innovation and anticipating risk. By the end of the module, you will have defined your next steps and an appreciation of how transformational leadership can improve the quality of team decision-making.

Is stress something to worry about or can it be a tool to improve performance and help you accomplish more? This module helps you to identify and manage triggers of stress in yourself and others. You will gain an understanding of leadership and workplace factors that influence individual stress and learn how your personality can impact your perceptions of stress, and your approach to managing it. You will learn coping approaches, along with strategies to improve personal resilience. By the end of the module, you will be able to recognize different approaches to stress management and coping, how resilience is created, and some of the more successful approaches to managing stress in everyday life.

If you’re interested in studying agriculture, but you only want to commit to a year, then our Agricultural Sciences Certificate program, offered through our partnership with Lakeland College, is for you!
Our certificate program offers a specific concentration on crop production. The courses offered will allow you to master fundamental skills that are essential for modern agricultural operations, including computer training, keeping accurate business records, and using up-to-date and innovative technology. Skills specific to crop production will involve you in practical field skills used to identify plants and weeds and assess a variety of pest problems.
Upon completion of your certificate program, you will also be given the option to transfer into year two of Lakeland’s Crop Technology Diploma program, offered on its Vermilion campus. The diploma program will allow you to gain knowledge and skills through agronomy, production, precision farming, and financial management classes while being immersed in a hands-on experience through industry practicum or Lakeland’s student-managed farm.

Become a Level III Early Childhood Educator
When you graduate from the ECE diploma you are eligible to apply to become a licensed Level III Early Childhood Educator (ECE) through the Government of Saskatchewan. Want to jump into the construction workforce? Check out the Electrician Applied Certificate program. At just 17 weeks long, it provides the basic knowledge and skills you need for an entry-level job.
Instructors with actual industry experience will help you learn how to install, test, replace and repair lighting fixtures, wiring and electrical equipment. You'll get lots of hands-on practice using standard tools of the trade. You'll also learn how to read and interpret construction drawings.
Electrician is a skilled trade. Having an applied certificate will get you noticed by employers and put you on the fast track to having a career as an electrician. The more education and experience you get, the higher you can climb on the wage-earning ladder. A fourth-year journeyperson electrician can earn double the hourly wage of a first-year electrician apprentice.

The Adobe software tools are the leading software for graphic design. LERN offers an online Graphic Design Software Essentials Certificate based on the Adobe suite.
Adobe Illustrator is the industry standard computer illustration software. Use Illustrator to draw shapes and design logos, flyers, posters, banners, business cards or any other vector graphics for print or web. Adobe InDesign is the industry standard page-layout program that works with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop seamlessly. InDesign allows you to create simple to complex multi-page documents such as brochures, flyers, books and magazines. The Health Care Cook program is designed to prepare cooks for work in health care settings, such as hospitals, long-term care homes, personal care homes, and private care facilities. You will interact with patients and residents, modifying diets to meet specific texture and nutritional requirements related to medical conditions. You will combine hands-on cooking skills with online theoretical knowledge to flexibly gain valuable health care cooking experience.
The Health Care Cook Certificate is considered as an alternative to the Journeyperson Certification in Saskatchewan Health Authority Cook postings. Individuals hired with the Health Care Cook Certificate will be fully qualified, and be paid at the same rate of pay as a Journeyperson Cook.

Primary Care Paramedic is a one-year Saskatchewan Polytechnic Certificate program.
Being a paramedic is all about teamwork. There’s a sense of camaraderie you won’t find in many other jobs. But it takes a special kind of person. You have to want to help people because you’ll be dealing with people of all ages in all kinds of crises. You have to work well under pressure because you’ll be delivering pre-hospital emergency care in people’s homes, in the middle of busy streets, and/or at industrial sites.

You will learn the difference between coaching and mentoring, learn a model and principles for effective coaching, and practice putting theory into action through applied activities that account for differences in employees' personality types, work styles, generational differences, cultural diversity and work situations.
Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (Required)
You will examine why conflict arises in the workplace, discuss the importance of resolution mechanisms and learn practical tips for managing conflict. You will also learn constructive routes to communication and agreement, consider your own method of dealing with conflict and practice options for communicating more effectively.
Creating Effective Work Groups (Required)
This course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills required for building and maintaining effective work groups/teams. The concept of team and its application to organizational success will be discussed. An examination of inter-relationship between the work to be a accomplished and the people who deliver the work in order to insure organizational effectiveness will be processed. The stages groups go through and role of the leader in each of those roles will be discussed. Participants will have an opportunity to assess their leadership competencies and plan for their development. Finally, participants will be able to experience using general consensus while going through the core steps of the team development process in creating vision, mission statements, and values.
Interpersonal Communication (Required)
In this course you will learn about the role of the supervisor and the appropriate leadership techniques for obtaining cooperation and commitment through the use of effective communication. You will examine communication at its core and develop a practical road map for communicating effectively and efficiently through any conversation and in any situation.

Authentic Leadership (Elective)
The overall purpose of this course is to provide participants with an opportunity to understand and improve themselves personally and professionally, in order that they may become more authentic as individuals and leaders, and achieve greater results. The course is self reflective throughout. The following areas will be introduced and processed: what's going on in organizations today; what is leadership; what is authenticity; assessing your four intelligences; clarifying your values; creating a leadership vision statement; how to be credible; establishing your code of ethics as a leader; the importance of influencing others; leadership and power; principled leadership competency assessment; and transferring learning back home.
Leading Change (Elective)
You will learn the series of phases that a successful change process must go through. You will learn how to get the organization's attention for this needed change, create a vision of what would happen if the change is achieved and identify others with the skills, attitudes and reputations you need for buy-in.
Developing a Personal Leadership Plan (Elective)
The final piece to personal leadership development and to understand the purpose of your own leadership style is to create the Personal Leadership Development Plan. This plan will help guide you throughout your professional and personal life.
Leading and Motivating Employees (Elective)
This course provides participants with core tools and techniques in leading and motivating today's employees in order that they can be effective individually and collectively. Concepts such as the role of the leader in establishing trust relationships, assessing leadership style, establishing personal leadership mission statements, processing various motivational theories and their application to the workplace will all be discussed and processed in this course.
Leading in a Diverse Environment (Elective)
You will learn about the various forms of diversity in the workplace including race, ethnicity, gender and multi generational workers. You will understand the rights and responsibilities of your position as a manager and those of your employees. You will explore various skills that will allow you to be empowered to avoid and manage conflicts in the workplace, and to create an inclusive work environment.

You will learn how transformational leaders focus on 'transforming' others to enhance the motivation, morale and performance of their employees. You will explore how the leader's personality, traits and ability are used to institute change through vision and goals.

Fundamental Project Management Principles (Required)
You will learn the fundamental tools and skills that support effective project management. Topics include project initiation, planning, controlling, implementing and closing. You will examine the role of the project manager with respect to team, client and stakeholder communications; common project management terminology; and how to apply project planning and control techniques to the workplace.
Principles of Effective Leadership (Required)
You will learn the skills and processes needed to increase leadership awareness. You will explore topics such as motivation, leadership style, implementing change, setting and achieving standards and corrective discipline.
Fundamentals of Accounting for Non-Accountants (Required)
In the course, Fundamentals of Accounting, you will learn how financial statements are prepared and how to interpret financial statements and data in order to make proper financial decisions. Topics include discussion of accounting and financial management principles, financial reporting, accounting processes and budgets, investment analysis, internal controls, audit principles, risk assessment and performance evaluation. This course is designed for non-accounting managers and personnel who must work with internal accounting/financial data. Please bring a calculator to this course.
Business Communication (Required)
The focus is on the elements of clear, concise and efficient business communication. You will learn how to read the situation; set the tone and persuade all types of audiences in both oral and written communication. First, you will learn how to prepare concise, high-impact documents and presentations that achieve results which are essential for business success. You will have the opportunity to practice writing for situations that match your business needs (e.g. abstracts, proposals, reports and email correspondence). In the second day, you will learn to take your business ideas and translate them into quality presentations. As well, you will learn presentation assembly, public speaking skills, relaxation and grounding techniques that will leave you more confident in your oral communication skills.

This course will examine best practices and necessary skills to cultivate genuine and authentic engagement while improving the customer service experience! Through examining real life organizations, scenarios and application of best practices in various business industries and settings, this course is designed to be a catalyst in advancing the skills required for customer service excellence.

The failure of Project Managers to assess project risks has been a major cause of project failures. In this course, you learn to identify, analyze and mitigate project risks, as well as implement and communicate a risk management plan to clients and management. You will also explore best practices in innovative risk reduction from various industries.

This course is designed to teach you how to develop an effective and cohesive project team through improved leadership, team building, and communication skills in an environment that fosters team cooperation. Participants learn and practice proven team building, motivational, and conflict resolution techniques to help them realize the most from their human resources.
Project Value Management (Required) - Dec 6-8, 8:30am-11:30am
Learn the fundamentals of resource planning, including cost and procurement activities related to the defining, sequencing and duration estimation of activities, and resources and related cost estimation, cost management and control. You will learn how to use effective tools to ensure the project is completed on schedule and within budget. Your instructor uses case studies, hands-on exercises and problem analysis to simulate the preparation of the project plan.
Project Management Practicum (taken last) (Required) - Dec 13-15, 8:30am-12:30pm
This course takes you through the entire lifecycle of a project using the initiating, planning, implementing, controlling and closeout phases of project management. You will be given a case study and employ the knowledge gained from previous courses. You will go through the exercise of meeting deliverables with tight deadlines, dealing with group development issues, managing conflict and meeting customer expectations.

Every Food Eating Establishment must have a minimum of one certified food handler working at all times, as required under Section 10 of the Saskatchewan Public Eating Establishment Regulations.
The course will cover all aspects of Food Sanitation and results in a national accreditation.
This online course can be completed at your own pace. The course consists of modules that must be fully completed followed by a module test. You will have unlimited attempts at passing the module test and must score 100% to proceed to the next module.
After completing the course, you will have the option to take the exam immediately or later at a convenient time. When taking the exam you must have valid photo ID and a working Webcam. A final grade of 74% is required to successfully pass the exam and be certified.
The Safety Construction Orientation Training (SCOT) program is an interactive, online-training course composed of 13 modules, each focused on a different fundamental aspect of worksite safety.
