Continuing Care Assistant - PT (2022-2024)

The part-time Continuing Care Assistant program is intended for students that will have 500 hours of work experience as a CCA once you are done all of your theory classes.  With classes offered 2 days per week, students can continue working while completing their studies.  This program will take place over 2 years.

NOTE: this part-time program will only provide the THEORY classes of your CCA program, and DOES NOT include access to clinical placements.  You must be able to apply for PLAR at the end of your program.

If you will need to take your CLIN100 and CLIN219, we suggest you take the full-time program.

Year 1 (2022-2023)   Once these courses are complete, they will be offered again in 2024/2025    

Year 2  (2023-2024)   Registrations will open in Summer 2023.  Schedule will be provided in Summer 2023.    

The Continuing Care Assistant program provides knowledge and skill development in helping people to help themselves in their homes and special care facilities. You will receive training in: gerontology, dementia management strategies, applying the philosophy of long-term care into home care, special care and community settings, promoting independence in a safe environment, working with people from all cultures, working with individuals with different levels of physical and cognitive impairment, giving personal care, and attending to psychosocial needs.

Tuition: $3,300* (for all theory classes over 2 years)
Books & Supplies: $1,000*
Student Fees: $95 (prorated for each course)

8. Culture and Diversity in Canadian Society (SOCI171) Registrations close: NOON - March 28, 2023

You will explore culture and diversity in Canada and the challenges they present. You will discuss the impacts of oppression, multiculturalism, immigration, social inequalities, and social justice at both personal and professional levels. You will discuss the historical and contemporary challenges of Indigenous peoples. You will also examine tools to foster social change and diversity competencies. 
This course will be face-to-face in Melfort on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Tuition: $282.90
