Honouring Lives Lost

May 31, 2021

Cumberland College would like to acknowledge and express our respect, support, and condolences to the families of the 215 Indigenous children who were found at the former Kamloops Residential School. Despite the physical distance between Saskatchewan and Kamploops, BC, the grief and despair that is felt in our province and within our community cannot be ignore.

Our thoughts are with the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc community and beyond. We encourage our college community to wear orange this week in remembrance of the children who never made it home.

Cumberland College is situated on Treaty 4, Treaty 5, and Treaty 6 territory and the homeland of the Métis people. We reaffirm our commitment to implementing the actions of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and educating and supporting our staff and students as we move together into the future.
