Agriculture & Bioresources

Overview:

The University of Saskatchewan offers a direct-entry four-year program in Agriculture & Bioresources, leading to a number of different degree options. You can take your first year at Cumberland College.

Programs are focused on four themes:

  • Plants and Animals - the sustainable management, production, and genetic improvement of agricultural and domesticated plants and animals;
  • Food, Feed and Bioproducts - the use of renewable resources to provide safe and accessible food, sustainable sources of nutrients, pharmaceuticals and fuels;
  • Environment and Ecology - protecting renewable resources and the environment through responsible management and conservation of the world’s soil, water and ecosystems; and
  • Business and Applied Economics - management, entrepreneurship, policy and economics relating to agricultural and bioresources.

Requirements:

Agriculture and Bioresources and Diploma in Agronomy

  • Grade 12 with:
    • Biology 30
    • Chemistry 30
    • Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-Calculus 30

Bachelor of Science and Diploma in Agribusiness

  • Grade 12 with:
    • Biology 30 or Chemistry 30 or Physics 30
    • Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-Calculus 30

Students can be admitted into this college with one subject deficiency that must be cleared before the second year of study.

Notes:

You can complete a full first year (30 credit units) of many of the Agriculture and Bioresource degrees at Cumberland College.  To complete your degree you must move to the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.  You must apply and be accepted to the University of Saskatchewan to start your Agriculture degree at Cumberland College.
