Early Childhood Education - Level I

Cumberland College offers a number of different sessions of Early Childhood Education. Usually there is at least one Early Childhood Education Level 1 offered and one part-time Early Childhood Education Level 2 program offered in the region.  For more information about our upcoming offerings, please contact us by email or phone 306.862.8752.

Early Childhood Education Level 1

This introductory course provides the minimum training required by Saskatchewan Ministry of Education in order to work as a child daycare worker. The curriculum emphasizes on the content and best practices in three core areas: child guidance, play & exploration and health, safety & nutrition. This recently revised course is based on the Ministry's new Play and Exploration Early Learning Program, the curriculum framework used for all childhood programs in the province.

In addition to the workshops, home study will be required.

The Early Childhood Education Level 1 courses

offer a Certificate of Achievement and are credit courses toward the Early Childhood Education Diploma.

Completion of Grade 10 is required for entry into the Level 1 program.
