1A Truck Driver Training - MELT

4.5 week Program (approximately 21 days)

Requirements:

Must have a valid Class 1 learners license, written Air Brake endorsement, and have completed a SGI medical to take this course.  You must submit a copy of your Class 1 Learner's and Air Brake endorsements prior to the application deadline.

DRIVERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT CLASS 1 (LEARNER’S) ENDORSEMENT.  THE COLLEGE WILL NOT HOLD SPOTS FOR THOSE WITHOUT THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS.

Effective March 15, 2019, all drivers who want to obtain a commercial Class 1 licence must undergo Saskatchewan’s Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) program.

Courses available:

1A Truck Driver Training - MELT

4 week Program (approx 20 days) (Tax deductible Cost for 2021)

  • Total Drive Hours = 57 hours

  • Total Class Room Time = 47 hours

  • Circle Check/Air/Couple/Yard = 17.5 hours

  • Total 121.5 hours


Prerequisites:

Effective March 15, 2019, all drivers who want to obtain a commercial Class 1 licence must undergo Saskatchewan’s Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) program.

To be eligible to take this training, drivers must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • be a Saskatchewan resident
  • complete a SGI drivers medical
  • hold a non-Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) Class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license
  • hold a Class 1 learner (a Class 1 endorsement) - mandatory for acceptance
  • Air Brake Certificate (written test)

Existing Saskatchewan Class 1 drivers were grandfathered in as of the implementation date.

All documentation must be submitted prior to the application deadline:

  • SGI drivers medical
  • Valid class 5 drivers license with your 1A Learner's Endorsement - mandatory for acceptance
  • Air Brake Certificate (written test certificate)
  • $500 non-refundable seat deposit or sponsorship (required after acceptance when the above requirements are met)
