Continuing Care Assistant- PT (2021/2022)
The part-time Continuing Care Assistant program (2021-2022) will be delivered in a combination of virtual classes, and on-campus experiences. Some modules may be on-campus in Melfort or Nipawin (please see the specific module below for information). ** Dates are subject to change. **
The Continuing Care Assistant program provides knowledge and skill development in helping people to help themselves in their homes and special care facilities. You will receive training in: gerontology, dementia management strategies, applying the philosophy of long term care into home care, special care and community settings, promoting independence in a safe environment, working with people from all cultures, working with individuals with different levels of physical and cognitive impairment, giving personal care, and attending to psychosocial needs.
The part-time program varies from the full-time program as it does not include Clinicals at this time. The part-time program is designed for students to complete the theory components of their certificate in the comfort of their own communities.
If you are interested in applying for the part-time Continuing Care Assistant program, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment with a Cumberland advisor to discuss your options.
