Continuing Care - KTHR

Length: 1.5 years

Overview:

The Continuing Care Assistant program provides knowledge and skill development in helping people to help themselves in their homes and special care facilities. You will receive training in: gerontology, dementia management strategies, applying the philosophy of long term care into home care, special care and community settings, promoting independence in a safe environment, working with people from all cultures, working with individuals with different levels of physical and cognitive impairment, giving personal care, and attending to psychosocial needs.

Please note:  This program is for Kelsey Trail Health Region employees only.  The program will be offered two days per week from Melfort to various Telehealth locations throughout the region.  Students will need to participate in the labs by meeting at a Kelsey Trail Health Region facility.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Heart Saver 'C' AED or equivalent.
  • Applicants should have personal and physical suitability.
  • Provide current immunization records
  • Criminal Record Check

The application deadline is November, 2016 (including all necessary supporting documentation).
