Continuing Care - Part-time Melfort

Program Start: 5 October 2020 - In Session
Location: Melfort
Credit Granting Institution: Sask Polytech
Length: 1-2 years*

Overview:

The Continuing Care Assistant certificate program combines hands-on classroom learning with practical clinical experience. You will build knowledge and skills in: addressing individual psychosocial needs, administering personal care, dementia management strategies, gerontology, long-term care philosophy in different settings, promoting independence in a safe environment, working with individuals with different physical and cognitive impairments, and working with people of different cultures. As a continuing care assistant, you’ll work directly with clients in long-term care, home care, assisted living, some areas of acute care, and even in special needs classrooms.

The part-time program varies from the full-time program as it does not include Clinicals at this time. The part-time program is designed for students to complete the theory components of their certificate in the comfort of their own communities. It is important that students meet with a Cumberland advisor regularly and monitor their own progress.

If you are interested in applying for the part-time Continuing Care Assistant program, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment with a Cumberland advisor to discuss your options.
