Tourism & Customer Service

Looking to acquire or upgrade your skills in customer service, hospitality, or tourism?  Cumberland College offers numerous full and half-day courses from the Saskatchewan Tourism Education Council (STEC).  Some of our offerings include:

NOTE:  Registration deadline is 1 week prior to course start date.  Minimum enrollment is required to run all Continuing Education classes.  Full payment or sponsorship is required to secure your spot in the class.

PLEASE NOTE: These courses are not eligible for a T2202A tax slip.  Courses must be a minimum of 10 hours classroom study per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive weeks to qualify.

Serve It Right Saskatchewan (SIRS)

Serve It Right Saskatchewan (SIRS) is a training program that promotes the responsible service of alcohol in Saskatchewan. Training topics include ways of identifying intoxication, how to handle situations involving minors, effective approaches in discontinuing or refusing the sale or service of alcohol, and facts and figures on legal responsibilities and liabilities.

 

On June 22, 2015, the Government of Saskatchewan announced that mandatory server intervention training would be phased in over a three year period.

 

  • By June 30, 2016, all owners and managers will be required to have completed the training and new hires must take the training within 30 days of beginning employment.
  • By June 30, 2017, there must be at least one person on each shift who has completed the training.
  • By June 30, 2018, all employees involved in the sale and service of alcohol must have completed SIRS.
