Early Childhood Education Practicums

Overview:

The practicum integrates theory and practice in the work environment.

You will use knowledge and skills developed in prerequisite course modules to observe and record the behavior of children, to interact with children and adults in a supportive and positive manner, and to guide children’s behavior using positive guidance strategies.

*In order to apply to take your PRAC 104 you need to ensure you have completed the following modules: ECE 181 &  HUMD 183. In order to apply to take your PRAC 119 you will need to have completed the following modules: HUMD 102, ECE 100, ECE 106, ECE 107, ECE 108, ECE 109, ECE 142, PD 100, & PRAC104. *You must also be employed by a daycare. 

Requirements:

  • To qualify you must have

    • Completed all theory modules for PRAC 104:ECE 181 & HUMD 183

    • Completed all theory modules for PRAC 119:HUMD 102, ECE 100, ECE 106, ECE 107, ECE 108, ECE 109, ECE 142, PD 100, & PRAC 104

    • You need to be employed by a daycare

    • If you are sponosored please fill out the Sponsorship Form: CC Sponsorship Form - Fillable.pdf (cumberlandcollege.sk.ca)

  • You need to apply to the Early Childhood Education Practicum program by completing an online application form, plus send your SaskPolytech Trancript to show proof of completion of Level 1 and Level 2 of theory course modules, this can be found on your MySaskPolytech Account, by May 25th, 2021 to:

Practicum 2 (PRAC 119)

You will demonstrate your ability to build positive and responsive relationships with children and adults. You will use your observation skills to plan and prepare a culturally relevant emergent curriculum based on children’s interests and family engagement.


Prerequisites:

HUMD 102, ECE 100, ECE 106, ECE 107, ECE 108, ECE 109, ECE 142, PD 100, PRAC 104.
