Agriculture plays an important role in our local economy, and Cumberland College is pleased to assist by providing agricultural based programming.  The programs offered are intended to help producers enhance their operations and keep current on the latest industry trends.

Certified Crop Advisor Exam Prep

Farmers have a lot invested in their business – and they rely on Certified Crop Advisors (CCA).

Having a CCA designation provides growers and employers with the confidence that you have a recognized level of expertise as a crop consultant. These courses will prepare you for the certification exams.

Depending on your preference, you can enroll in both the Prairie Provinces and International versions, or just one of them. These courses are delivered through a mix of online learning, recorded class sessions, and webinars. All of the material for this course is online – there is no need to purchase books or manuals

Power Engineering (Fireman's Level)

This course is intended to assist students to prepare to write the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) Limited Power Engineering (Fireman’s Certificate) exam.


Topics include: low pressure heat boilers, fuel and firing equipment, automatic controls, pumps, piping fittings, valves, steam and hot water heating, ventilation, basic electricity, and the Boiler Pressure Vessel Act and Regulations.

Surface Blasting Exam Prep

Whether working in your yardsite, farm, or rural municipality, this training will help you learn to use explosives safely and confidently. Working with explosives requires a skill set that includes accuracy, theoretical knowledge and keen attention to safety. The blasting course focuses on these skills while providing students with plenty of hands-on experience.

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Describe explosives and how to assemble them;
  • Describe regulations governing the use of explosives;
  • Describe requirements for storing explosives;
  • Describe procedures for explosive deployment;
  • Describe recording procedures;
  • Describe procedures for disposing of explosives.

** Class may end earlier on the Sunday depending on the weather and ability to complete the necessary learning objectives.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS: Students must present a criminal record check on the first day of class. As well - you will be required to wear personal protective equipment including: steel-toed boots, hard hat and safety glasses.

Minimum age is 18 years old.
