Continuing Care Assistant
Overview:
The Continuing Care Assistant program provides knowledge and skill development in helping people to help themselves in their homes and special care facilities. You will receive training in: gerontology, dementia management strategies, applying the philosophy of long term care into home care, special care and community settings, promoting independence in a safe environment, working with people from all cultures, working with individuals with different levels of physical and cognitive impairment, giving personal care, and attending to psychosocial needs.

Length: 32 weeks (4 days/week Tuesday-Friday)
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or successful completion of fifteen (15) post-secondary credits from a recognized institution
- Applicants should have personal and physical suitability.

- Accepted applicants may be required to undergo an interview and will be required to provide evidence of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Serarch prior to entering the clinical component of the program.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Heart Saver 'C' AED or equivalent are required prior to entry into clinical.
- Accepted applicants are required to provide current immunization records, evidence of current N95 respirator mack testing prior to entry into the clinical practicum, evidence of WHMIS 2015 Globally Harmonized (GHS) certification.
